Tiki Gardens
Entrance to the old Tiki Gardens in Indian Shores, FL
One of the famous attractions that was on Indian Shores was “Tiki Gardens”. A South Seas-Polynesian themed attraction that ran from the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s. It had gifts shops, exotic gardens along with birds and monkeys. It eventually was sold and then re-sold to Pinellas County who turned it into a beach access parking lot that still bears the name Tiki Gardens.
Lately Indian Shores has completed numerous projects including utility undergrounding ,bicycle lanes and pedestrian walkways, a new four-story Municipal Center, a new park pavilion and playground, and a town beautification project. The town has about 1800 full time residents but in the winter our snowbird friends from the North add to that and we can have around 5000 residents during that time. The long used Town Motto is “Indian Shores – A Great Place to Live.”
